Provision & Access of Content and Collaboration with Mobile Computers

The WP objective is R&D work regarding annotating and accessing content, as well as collaboration, with pocket-sized devices. The access to content should be improved by a context sensitive information retrieval scheme and adaptation to the needs and device resources of end-users. The goal is to conceptualise and develop a sophisticated multimedia database on the backend side, which provides the data material for the facility management scenario. This WP’s goal is to provide a solution for the efficient usage of images, vector graphics, animated graphics and 360° images on mobile devices.
The work in this WP begins with the research of annotating vector graphics and images, as well as the live sharing of these annotations with other participants. The upload of this enriched material takes the actual user context for future information retrieval into account. The coherence to the metadata will be considered. This lead especially to the research and usage of MPEG-7. Mobile knowledge searching and visualisation deals with the aspect of finding and visualising the provided annotated information or knowledge in the knowledge pool. Here, a new paradigm “context-based information retrieval” will be investigated. Finally, a suitable strategy for content adaptation for this rich multimedia material and the media integration into a universal data format like MPEG-4 will be established.
