Mobile Interactive Video

This R&D WP has the aim to enable the efficient usage of interactive video on pocket-sized devices. It should answer the following: 1) how to interact with moving video objects on a mobile device; 2) how to present additional hypermedia information; 3) how to retrieve video material which contains the right piece of information; 4) how to highlight the moving objects for which additional information is available; 5) how to automate the identification of important video objects as potential hot spots; 6) how we can integrate dynamic hotspots in MPEG-4, which only provides a static scheme; 7) how the ordinary end-user can annotate (hypermedia) information into video on mobile computers. And finally: how the end-user can share annotated video material with remote users.
The work starts with the integration and development of new methods for ease of use and efficient use of interactive video by investigating possible interaction mechanisms and ways to present additional hypermedia information. The development of a concept and prototype for the ad-hoc insertion of knowledge or annotations, as well as the interchange with user groups, will be performed. Finally, object-tracking algorithms to determine object positions within the video sequence will be studied.
